Course Overview:

This regulated RQF qualification in the requirements of electrical installations has been designed to allow learners to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations.  All Electrical Installations from 31st December 2018 will have to meet this new standard.

Who is this training course for?

This course is aimed at candidates who are involved in the design, construction, inspection and testing of electrical systems.  It is also suitable for practicing electricians, related trades and other allied professionals who may be new to the industry or in need of updating and enhancing their understanding of IET Wiring Regulations.

** It is recommended that you have your own copy of the regulations book for this course **

Books can be purchased via Walsall Training Centre if required.

Course Duration:

There are 3 programmes that we have available here at Walsall Training Centre.  Due to the significant changes to these regulations we highly recommend pre-training prior to the assessment, but this is not compulsory.

3 DAY COURSE:
This course is for current operatives who hold an up to date 17th Edition: 3rd amendment certificate.  The course is split over 2 full days of comprehensive training , and then 1 day for assessment.
 
4 DAY COURSE:
This course is for operatives who do not hold a current 17th Edition, and / or are completeing the qualification for the first time.  The course is split over 3 full days of comprehensive training, and then 1 day for assessment.
 
ASSESSMENT ONLY (No training):
Candidates can undertake the assessment, with the understanding that no training will be give.  ALL candidates undertaking the assessment only will need to supply their own BS7671:2018 regulations book.

Topic Areas Covered:

The objective of this RQF qualification is for learners to demonstrate they know and understand:

  • the scope, object and fundamental principles of BS7671
  • the definitions used within BS7671
  • how to assess the general characteristics of electrical installations
  • the requirements or protection for safety of electrical installations
  • the requirements for selection and erection of equipment for electrical installations
  • the requirements of inspection and testing of electrical installations
  • the requirements of special installations and locations as identified in BS7671
  • the information contained within the appendices of BS7671

Training and Assessment methods:

Candidates will be assessed by a multiple choice on line exam - 60 questions (120 minutes) with a minimum pass mark of 75%

Course Achievements:

Successful candidates will be awarded Level 3 RQF Requirements for Electrical Installation (18th Edition) BS7671:2018 certificate
